Byker Community Association

The funding was used to run inclusive adults’ art sessions. The sessions were run in a relaxed manner with the attendees leading the practice. Subjects covered included portraits, still-life, landscapes and wildlife. They looked at realism, abstraction and fantasy art (Sci-Fi), using a diverse selection of materials including charcoal, watercolour, acrylic paints, pen & ink and pencil. Artist Mick Smith taught artistic techniques, however, sessions were about art being used to support people’s wellbeing, so the level of instruction was tailored to each individual.
