Unfolding Theatre was founded in 2008 in Newcastle upon Tyne by Artistic Director, Annie Rigby. Since then, they have toured to audiences across the UK and collaborated with top creative thinkers, including young people, artists and community groups. Unfolding Theatre were successful in applying for funding for two projects through Well Newcastle Gateshead - East End Story Makers and The Byker Storytime Exchange.

Summary: The Byker Storytime Exchange was a doorstep stories for families in Byker and a local story trail. The project involved three project strands – Storytelling and Arts workshops, Storytime on Your Doorstep and The Byker Family Story Trail. The project was delivered by Unfolding Theatre in partnership with Barnardo’s Community Family Hub East at Byker Sands Centre.

It had two distinct strands: the delivery of intergenerational Doorstep Stories in Byker and the piloting of an East End Story Makers Creative Collective, a weekly group that used drama, music, movement, creative writing, and food to create and share stories.
